![]() > This seems to be what is happening on my car right now. Its one of the reasons BMW dont show coolant temp anymore to regualr drivers. This means that there's a possibility that the coolant temp can reach 100C.ĭo you know at what temp will the P0217: High Coolant Temp Warning be asserted? The engines have variable MAP controlled thermostats, so coolant temperature varies depending on the mode the ECU is in. ![]() I can also see that the thermostat is fully open at 100C. 2003 F-250 Crew Cab Short Bed Lariat PSD 6.0 Automatic FX4 - Rebuilt oil cooler, Diesel Site coolant filter. (2) If EOT exceeds ECT by 15 F (8.4 C) or more at any time during the test, to Step 6. Looks like I am looking at engine at Idle which makes the engine coolant temp at 80C. I had a friend who only suffered slight temperature rise when going up hill, after pulling his radiator apart I found it half full of crud, a new radiator cured his problem. Just out of curiosity I broke down my old radiator and it was about one third blocked What I have noticed recently even with my car the radiators are suffering from blocked cores due to the age of these car now, I would recommended that you change the radiator due to contaminant build up, I have tried several methods of radiator flushing but in the end bought a new 32mm radiator, that did the trick for me, ![]() What it does say that the thermostat will open at 85*c which would tell me that the engine running temperature would be around that, coolant coming off the engine going to the radiator will be hotter than 85*c and the coolant returning would be less than 85*c, it obvious the ambient temp will have some effect on the return coolant temperature, just remember the coolant system boiling point temperature changes while under pressure hence the radiator cap being at approx 17psi ![]() I have a manual and I cant find any reference on the engine running temp being at 80*c. Should the coolant temp be at 80C all the time even on a hot ambient? ![]()
